Acute care

A complete psychiatric setup to manage acute psychiatric conditions under disorders like Schizophrenia, Bipolar affective disorder, unipolar depression, Obsessive compulsive disorders, suicidal attempts etc. To manage withdrawal phase under detoxification process of De-addiction.

Modified Electro convulsive therapy available for Acute conditions. General ward and private-room facilities to accommodate patients and their guardian. Located at walkable distance from main busstand with access to all convenience nearby. Psychiatric Out-patient facility runs at this building from 10am to 8pm on all weekdays except Sunday. Appointment(In Person) mandatory for consultation. For Emergency psychiatric conditions, hospital service is open for 24/7. Hygienic food available from home kitchen (optional).

De-addiction

Patients who developed dependence towards substances like Alcohol, Cannabis, Opioid, Hypnotics, Volatile substances and for Polysubstances are rehabilitated here. After admitted, investigated and detoxified at Acute care facility, patients get shifted for rehabilitation. Depends upon the severity of illness and the cooperation of the patient, the rehabilitation process generally involve a period of 8 to 12 weeks of inpatient care.

According to the Bio-psycho-social model, our expert team actively involves with the patient and his family in a dynamic way using scientifically proven therapeutic approaches like Motivational enhancement therapy, Cue exposure therapy, Family therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy besides pharmacotherapy. Daily activities include physical training & yoga by qualified experts. Group therapy, Sharing sessions and play therapy are being conducted. Hygienic and balanced diet provided from kitchen.

Rehabilitation

Acute and chronic patients of various mental illnesses are shifted here to ensure the compliance with medicines as well as to rehabilitate further towards activities of daily living and self-care. Individual, group and cognitive behavioral therapies are being followed accordingly. Period of rehabilitation extends from 1 to 3 months until the psychiatric symptoms remit and when the patient adheres to medicines with minimal supervision. Physical training, yoga, occupational and play therapy are being followed.

Day Care

Under implementation. Chronic mentally ill female patients are given with occupational training by experts under supervision combined with rehabilitation towards self care and activities of daily living. Individual care and client centered therapy are being followed.

Counseling

Counseling services offered for Marital disharmony, Sex and Gender related conflicts, Adolescent problems, Academic problems, Family dynamics trouble, Suicidal risks, Relationship conflicts etc at Acute care centre. (Appointment mandatory)

Community Service

Various community level mental health awareness programs are being conducted among the villages in and around Tiruvannamalai. Free mental health camps are being conducted every full moon day around the Girivalam path and on no moon day at Melmalaiyanoor festival.

School mental health

Reality oriented programs for students; teachers and parents from different perspectives are being conducted to intensify the relationship & understanding between them. Teacher’s enhancement programs, student’s life skill development and parent’s orientation programs are being provided. Screening for child & Adolescent psychological problems are offered.

Special education unit

Under implementation. Children with learning disability are given individualized educational program in resource rooms by experts. They get assistance from resource room therapist towards Remedial instruction, homework completion and life skills development.
